Unbroken Circle is a new Off-Broadway production which explores how family secrets affect every person in each generation differently. The cast includes Broadway vets Anika Larsen (
Xanadu, Avenue Q) and Lori Hammel (
Mamma Mia!) and also stars Eve Plumb (“The Brady Bunch”,
Love Loss…) in a highly comedic yet ultimately moving performance as the born-again Christian, Aunt June. Inspired by events from his extended Texas family, playwright James Wesley stars as the troubled Bobby alongside his real-life daughter Juli Wesley. The show is being produced by SiriusXM Broadway host Seth Rudetsky and Mary J. Davis.

My favorite family story is the one about my Grandmother's 75th birthday. We were able to gather up family from all over the country to attend. It was the most wonderful family gathering I remember. I met relatives that I only heard about, while growing up. The look on my Grandmother's face was priceless. She died only a few months after the party. The family knew it was the best gift we could have given her for her last birthday.
ReplyDeleteThere was the time I went into a candy store on Avenue C. I didn't want to leave my bike outside for fear that it might be stolen. So I took my bike inside and within minutes my bike fell into the glass casing (surrounding the candy). There was a lot of yelling and I ran out and got my father and his friend who also did a lot of yelling. We left with the bike. I was around 8 years young or so and afterwards was always scared to walk on that block.
ReplyDeleteThere's too many to choose from but I have to say road tripping it to Canada when I was eight stands out. We rented a large vehicle since we had relatives visiting and that was exciting -- to travel with other families for that long a period. Not only was seeing Niagara Falls such a thrill but all the little shops and treats we encountered along the way -- including the best homemade ice cream I've ever tasted in my life and a hideaway beach -- added to the adventure! We all had a great time in the car and it was just all about life on the open road.
